With his permission...

Brett has said a few comments in the past few days
that had us laughing for a long time.
With his (forced?) permission, I am going to tell you about them, they may not be as funny reading them, but they were dang funny at the moment!

First one:
Imagine Brett and I sitting in a chapel on campus listening to a Gospel/Arts lecture for a class. The chapel is full of students around us and we are listening to the professor up on the stand. He is talking about Art- he has a slide projector behind him and he is popping up images.

One slide pops up and Brett says "What is that?"...Before I can say anything he continues,
"Oh- I know, Leonardo diCaprio did that."

"What?" I say..."The Actor?"
"Oh...ummm...i mean da vinci." He says.
So cute says I.

Second one:
Tonight while we were eating dinner we flipped on the TV real quick to see if the Olympics were on. They were not on, but guess what was?
Good ol' Pat and Vanna and Wheel of Fortune.
We left it on just long enough to see Pat introducing one of the players.
He was an odd looking guy with a huge beard, I am silently watching when Brett BURSTS into laughter.
"HAHAHA" he laughs, "His name is OREO !"

I read closer to this man's name tag.
And then stare at Brett in disbelief

"Brett?" I say- interrupting his laughs...
(He is practically crying from laughter at this point)

"His name is" I stutter quietly, not wanting to stop his belly laughing,
"GREG"

He stops mid-laugh and squints his eyes real tight together...
"Oh...ya" he says

OREO for GREG

He is so cute!
I love you Brett
Thank you for always keeping me laughing

Happy Sunday & a Fish update

Happy Sunday!
I hope that your day is as tasty as mine...

(Please notice the large space between the yummy cinnamon roll and the fish update.
It grossed me out to see the pictures close together. Something about fish and yummy sweets just doesn't mesh)

Fish update:
sadly, MuShu had to leave us. Something obviously went wrong and he just couldn't adapt. He passed away yesterday and we had a service for him as we watched him swirl down the toilet.
It was hard on Brett.

To fill the aching hole in his heart, Brett decided he wanted another fish.
Meet Kronk.

We also have two smaller fish. Their names are Bubble #1 & Bubble #2. Together they are simply Bubbles.

We hope that these guys will stick around a little longer then MuShu!

(If these do die soon, I will declare Brett and I the worst fish care-takers on the face of the planet)

Wish us "fish care-taking skills",

Love Week- Day 5

Happy Love Weekend!!
This morning we woke up and gave each other our little love gifts.
Brett got me these gorgeous roses
Aren't they beautiful?!

He also got me "This is It"- the Michael Jackson movie
Brett says that I am secretly obsessed with Michael Jackson
I'm not obsessed, just amazed.
I know he was a little different and at times was accused of doing some bad things.
I say it's all because of his horrible childhood- Brett says I'm making excuses.
Despite who is right- we can all acknowledge that he did A LOT of good in the world.
And that is why I like him. He gave so much to make this world a better place.
Plus- No one in the whole world can dance like Michael & his music rocks!

Brett also got me the 'Willow Tree' 'Together' Figurine.
Ever since my sister Brooke has given me a couple figurines for Christmas I had wanted to start a collection. It was really sweet of Brett- I didn't even ask for this.
He just knew, what a sweetie.

So after all these wonderful things that Brett got me, are you dying to know what was in the cupboard last night??
Welcoming the newest addition to the fam:
This is Brett's betta fish.
He didn't ask for one but I thought it would be fun to have another living thing around.
He was pleasantly surprised- and he likes it!
He got to pick the name and he picked the name 'MuShu' because he says this fish looks like the dragon from the movie Mulan.
It's his fish; so we're calling him MuShu
Welcome to the family!

I also got Brett a shirt, and a big pack of skittles, which I promised I would not ask for any.
(Hopefully I can stick to that promise)
I also got him a head massage 'gift certificate' for the Paul Mitchell school here.
oh, and did I mention I will be getting a head massage as well?
I figured that since they are only $7 why shouldn't I get one too?
So we will both be getting head massages at 3 today :)

Happy Love Weekend!
I hope it is filled with Love and hugs and kisses!

Love Week...Day 4

Today was a good day. Fridays are always good days though, right??
It's the end of a long week- and it's exciting the Olympics are starting, so I'm getting ready to watch them- especially the figure skaters, those are the most fun to watch.
I've always dreamt that I could figure skate
but alas, everytime I get on the ice (maybe the 1 time a year?)
I slip and fall and feel so ridiculous that I just want off
so, that dream will not be met, all well.

Onto my loves for the day
Today and everyday I love this cross-stitch that Brett's grandma, Hazel made for us.
It is so pretty and looks so good in our living room/kitchen/whole apartment
(I merge all these rooms because our apartment is so small- so it adds a nice touch to all our rooms.)

I Loooove this commercial. I feel dumb saying I love a commercial because how lame is that? It's a car commercial. But this commercial always makes me smile. Turn your volume up loud- and dance to the music! I promise this song will be in your head for at least a few hours!

I also Looove what is sitting in our cupboards right now. I got Brett some gifts for V-day, and i stuck them in the cupboard and told him he can't look.
I know he's dying; he loooves sneaking into presents early.
It's not a bad thing, it's kinda cute actually, it makes it really fun to get him gifts
We are doing v-day gifts tomorrow, so you will find out what I got him with tomorrows loves.

And just to re-iterate my first day's loves.
Here is my wonderful hubby doing the dishes after sun-dried tomato chicken pasta tonight! yum!
Happy Love week- only two
more days!!

Love Week- Day 3

Today I love these:
These are Albertsons twice the value coupons. Sorry they are so blurry.
I love these coupons~ They double the value of any manufacture coupon you have.
The trick is to find a good manufacture coupon!!
p.s. that free teddy bear is not really free- you have to buy three cards... and I don't need cards, but I want the cute teddy bear

I love Lunch Dates!
Before work on Tuesdays and Thursdays Brett and I have about 1/2 hour to spare. Since the buildings where we work are about 100 yds. apart, we get to have a 1/2 lunch date. We leave a packed lunch in the car, then sit there and talk and eat before work.
It is really fun, because we don't have any distractions so we just sit there and talk.
I really look forward to it when i'm sitting in the class before it's time for our lunch date.

Last Love of the day: College Inter-mural sports- I love being able to play sports at college and just have fun... speaking of which Brett and I are on a bowling team, and we have to run off to a game right now!!

Happy Love Week!!

Love Week -Day 2

Today was not a great day. I was sleepily in class until 4:45. Right when I got home Brett had to leave for two hours, and now I am stuck home alone "getting homework done." Luckily I had this post to do so it helped me reflect on the things I did love about today....

My bowl of cream of wheat. I love this stuff, I used to have it a lot when I was younger and Brett and I re-discovered it about a month ago. I make if for breakfast before I take Brett to school- it is so easy to make and it is so gosh dang good for you. Branch out- try some!

I Loooooove this necklace my sweet hubby got me for Christmas. In case you can't tell, one pendant has an 'E' on it and the other says 'Love'.

This is kinda a tough thing to show you.
But I attempted.
I think it is so pretty when it is lightly snowing and it lands on you softly.
This rarely happens because usually it lands on you and then you are soaking wet, but today it was landing softly...
After it lands I like to look at each snowflake and see how pretty each individual one is...
I still can't get over how EACH snowflake is different-and yet they are all so pretty.

So ya, this is me on the way to class... picture if you will...

Me- Stopped, smiling and staring delightfully at me sleeve, inspecting each snowflake, giggling to myself because they are so pretty...

hmmm... I never realized before but I bet all the other students walking around me think that I am 'special.' All well. At least I enjoy God's beauties around me. Even if I look 'special'.

Happy Love Week!

Love Week ...Day 1

Thanks to Denae for the idea of a love week prior to Valentines.

Since this is our first Valentine's day married I can't begin a sentence about what I love and not mention my wonderful husband. Since you are just dying to know, here are the top 3 reasons why I love this man:
  • He ALWAYS makes me laugh (even when I don't want to and I try very hard to keep a serious face because I am mad- but it's no use, he makes me laugh and my heart melts... it's ok- i can be mushy, it's love week!!)
  • Brett is so SMART! He knows how to get things done and he understands little annoying computer techy stuff. want an example? True convo this week; Brett: Here em, let me show you how the new router works and how to reset it. Me: ummmmm.....no thanks, maybe later?. (then i walked away wondering what in the world a router ma jiby is and why in the world i would ever need to know how to work it)
  • My man WASHES the dishes every. single. night. After work and school and then cooking dinner (usually with his help) I'm in no mood to scrub dishes- but I never have to.
Happily married for 10 months to my best friend. I love you Brett!!
(goofy pic right? i love it)

I LOVE home-made pizza!
Dear homemade pizza: Thank you for being so easy to create (Thanks to my sis Carrie's super easy pizza dough recipe!) Thank you for also being so fun to make. Thank you for letting me eat your dough before I even let you rise. (So selfish of me) I always eat so much dough and Brett always tells me it is bad because the yeast will expand in my stomach and then I won't be hungry. But I never listen to him. I bet you wish I would. Then maybe you wouldn't have chunks of crust eaten out of the sides of you, as you do in the photo above.
Also, thank you for letting me smother you with veggies since we ran out of pepperoni... you still tasted so deliciously. Sorry about the broccoli that I tried to experiment with... Brett told me to never again smother (or even put a dab of) broccoli on you again- I'm sure since he didn't like it, you didn't either. I won't do it again.
Yours truly, Em-dizzle
p.s. props goes to the pampered chef large round pizza stone. This pizza would be nothing without you to cook it on.

Yes it is true. I am an animal lover. If our apartment allowed it, and I had endless amounts of money for dog food/toys etc. I would have at least 3 dogs right now.
This is Duncan. my sweet, sweet chow/german shepard mix. I miss this dog like he's my brother. (Brett hates going home to duncan because he says duncan get's more attention...they fight for my love. I secretly enjoy it.

Don't fell bad if the first thing that came to your mind was, "Is she going horse-back riding?" Brett asks me the same question every-time I wear these boots.

These boots are dreamy. In my mind, that is.

First off, they are flat- so I can wear them all day long and never have sore feet.
Secondly, they keep the snow out. I feel like a kid, but whenever I wear these I go out of my way to stomp through the snow. I feel power knowing the snow can't get to me.

Lastly and most importantly...
These boots cost $3.98 from the value center.
ahhhh... the value center. Where Vallejo's finest shop.
Not really, I am scared for my life every time I go- but I obviously must keep going, to score great deals like these boots!

Thanks for visiting for love week day 1. Visit back tomorrow for day 2!

Talent or Problem? You Decide...

I made my little pistachio torte for a get together with some friends- only this time I used strawberries!!- and no pistachios- (so it was not a pistachio torte at all and pretty much just a strawberry torte) It was super yummy. I had some difficulties with the cake, the first one crumpled in Brett's hands as he was trying to move it ( It was not his fault- I had already given up on it) I just hate wasting ingredients so now we have a perfectly good semi-broken chocolate cake sitting in foil on our counter... what to do with it? Turn it into mini bite-size brownies??

Anyhoo, the second one turned out to be bomb dot com. It was fudgy and yummy.

With some home made whipped cream to top it off, it was
D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!!

p.s. why are 90% of my posts about food??
I think it runs in my family... we have a talent for liking/eating good food...
p.s.s. It is a talent not a problem
Right??

way to cold...

I don't like the cold. I don't like it one little bit! Do you want to know why?
Your ears freeze, your hands and fingers freeze, your nostrils and everything inside of them freezes. Then you put your nose in your scarf to get warm and everything in your nose melts so all of the sudden you have a runny nose until you pull the scarf off and then everything that was running from your nose freezes on your face. Not fun.
Also- I have never had to live and drive in the snow before, It is almost fun sometimes just to maneuver the car around and such HOWEVER... it is really not fun when you hit a patch of black ice out of no where and feel the car lose traction underneath you. I don't like that.
Also, you have to RUN from gym to car, to home, to school to car again-if you don't run you will probably turn into a big statue icicle... i don't know that for sure, because i have never stopped running to find out.
It was 5 degrees when we woke up the other morning. That is dang cold.
Amid all of these gloomy occurrences that unfortunately take place when it is Eskimo weather- i found the silver lining on the rain cloud.

This tree was covered in frost, but looked beautiful! Doesn't it look like you could just walk up and lick off some yummy frosting?

I love it!

We have been doing some fun things in the cold as well...sledding is really fun, until your hands go numb and your fingers snap off like twigs. That is no fun. (to gruesome?) sorry!

This is me EVERY NIGHT. Gettin my warmth in front of the heat dish!!
Thank you Jill for getting it for us- I would be oh so very cold without it. ( i might have tried something really drastic by now if i didn't have the heat dish, like climb in the oven or something!)

Wish me warmth!,
