a few firsts

As you probably notice I don't post much about "crafty projects" to often-
I don't consider myself a super crafty, 'make something cool out of any ol thing' type of girl.
I wish I was- and I love reading others people's blogs about their crafts and projects, it gives me hope! :)
My family however- is very crafty. All 3 of my sisters can make anything look like something great. They are all way better then me at scrap booking, sewing, drawing and anything else up that ally.
These 3 pictures below are not my projects- these are one of my sisters projects. This is the type of sewing she does-and my mom is such a wonderful seamstress, she made my wedding dress!

Now that you saw/know of their talents, let me share with you my recent projects {I realize my projects are going to look like a child could do it now that I showed you my sisters abilities, but bare with me!}

a few years ago my mom bought me a sewing machine, it's actually a 'mini' sewing machine, it's really cute and only weighs 5 lbs. Up until this weekend I had been scared to touch it, I was scared it would break as soon as I tried to wind the bobbin thingy whatsy- and then the thread would get all twisted and knotted and the machine would stop working.
That happened many times to me growing up when I got brave and tried to sew.
But, back then I had to just holler for my mom to come and fix whatever part I was sure I just broke. Then she would stop my melt-down, show me how to fix it, and I would be on my way, sewing again until the same thing happened 10 min later.

So- without my mom here, I was nervous to start.
But this Saturday was a slow one. March Madness games were on and I got a burst of craftiness that I had to take advantage of.
I got out my mini sewing machine, followed the directions s l o w l y- and viola, I had wound the bobbin and threaded my machine! I was ready to stop there I was so proud!

But- I had a project.
I had some of our old wedding fabric that I love and I had been wanting to cover our boring pillows on our couch.
So (after calling my mom to walk me through it and checking out a book from the library on pillow making) I did it!

I used two different fabrics for 4 pillows.
It was a lot of fun and the whole time I was doing this it was so cute to watch Brett.
He just stared at me in awe and he loved how crafty I was being.
After each project he praised me and told me how wonderful it looked.
Even though if you look close there are some flaws- but I wasn't going to let that get me down!

Our new pillows!

Then Monday I did something really crazy {for me}
I went to the fabric store and bought fabric!
It was really fun- although I ended up buying way to much fabric.

I made a baby blanket!
It's light green fleece on one side and dark brown flannel on the other.

Like I said, for you novice sewers out there, this is nothing impressive- but it's a start for me!

Birthday Weekend

My Birthday {week} was wonderful! I added birthday week because the week of my birthday I would ask Brett to get/do/make me something, and if he would begin to protest or show the slightest hesitation, I would say
"Please! It's my birthday week!"
Then- after rolling his eyes a little, he would complete my request :)
But don't have this image in your mind that I abused this all week- I only used it when it was absolutely necessary...

To start it off I had to take a belly picture on my bday

Friday night Brett, his brother Devin and his wife Kim & I went to P.F. Changs for dinner. yum! Kim's birthday is 2 days after mine, so it was a birthday dinner- and tons of fun!

Brett & I also made a trip to Leatherby's this weekend.
It was to celebrate BYU's win- oh, and my bday... but mainly BYU :)
Yes, we talked Jimmer the whole time.
{P.s. I know that ice cream in front of me looks huge- but I didn't have a problem eating it, so I don't know if that means it wasn't that big, or if I'm a pig...probably the latter}
I could not believe it when I opened these from Brett.
Party size peanut butter m&m's?!
I've never seen a bag this big- I think I was in shock for a bit...

We also got slurpee's from 7eleven for my bday.
I love slurpees, my favorite are the coke then I mix it with the cherry.
The coke slurpee machine was broken, so I had to settle with pina colada- I managed

On Sunday, the day after my bday Kate and Clark had us over and she spoiled me with a delicious chicken dinner and a birthday cake! It was delicious!

On Monday, Kim's bday, her and I went to gardner village, a cute shopping square- it was really fun and we celebrated our birthdays with lunch and we even split a maple donut
I'm still craving it!
Thanks to all my family & friends who tweeted, called, facebooked, and mailed me for my birthday. It was wonderful because of all of you.

And thanks to Brett- he made my 22 bday special and so fun. He spoiled me with love, gifts and good food. I'm one lucky girl!!

I dream of basketball

Along with celebrating my birthday this weekend
{Post on that to come soon}
we also watched a lot of basketball.
March Madness is fun. It's even more fun since I'm married to a basketball fanatic and his basketball-loving family. The Blodgett family does a family bracket competition every year and we all put in a little mula for the winner- it's a blast and I never win, but that's ok.

That being said- we have been watching/talking/imagining a lot of games, players and of course- Jimmer. Jimmer is an extremely common name in this house. I have to remind Brett when we are talking about him too much- or when Jimmer is dominating all of our conversations.
That being said- we love the man, and we love the whole BYU team.
If you want to know more about it, call my husband and he will give you a 5 hour lecture/informative session on why you too should love Jimmer and BYU basketball.

Onto the reason for this post...
Since we talk/watch a lot of Jimmer- he has been on both Brett and my mind's a lot lately. So much in fact that I dreamt about Jimmer.
Before I go any further let me clarify- I have never dreamt of any other man except Brett since we've been married. I do not dream of other men- ever :)

Ok, now that is clarified this story gets weirder.
I had a dream that I was on the basketball court after a game waiting for Jimmer to come out. I was standing by his girlfriend, but when he came out, he started talking to me like I was his girlfriend and we were talking about his game.
I woke up in a panic and completely confused- why am I dreaming about being Jimmer's girlfriend??

I told Brett about my dream before he went to work that morning.
His response was not what you would expect from a man whose wife just told him she dreamt of being another man's girlfriend.

He looked at me and said
"AWESOME!!!"
This just shows how much he loves Jimmer- and it made me laugh so hard.
Another side note: I have no dreamed of Jimmer since :)

After that dream I thought my basketball dreaming days were over- far from it!
Saturday night I dreamt I was playing basketball against this guy:
Amare Stoudemire

I like him- mainly because I love saying his last name.
And one time I saw him in a press conference and he was dressed nerdy/preppy and I thought his little personal style was cute- that's how I pick my favorite athletes :)

So I was playing basketball against Stoudemire and some other players- and I was getting mad at them and telling them how they were cheating.
Then Brett woke me up.

I hope my basketball dreaming days are over- but since March Madness isn't over yet-
I bet I will dream of it some more!

25 Weeks & 4 Days

I just keep growing and growing!!!
Will it ever stop?
I pretty much get scared to get on the scale every doctors appointment- but today to help assist my weight I decided to try one of Barefoot Contessa's recipes and I made shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate, then with the rest of the dough I made these.
They were delicious- I'm so happy to help assist my weight along :)

Along with being almost 26 weeks we are also celebrating my birthday this weekend.
How exciting!
the big 2-2!!!

Another Great Trip!!

This past weekend the Crowley girls did our annual girls trip- this year we went to Portland. Brooke lives about an hour from Portland, so the first night we went back to her house and saw the kids then Friday morning {right as tsunami warning were coming} we headed to the Oregon coast for two days!
It was a really fun trip, and I had never been to the Portland area before- it was really wet and raining like I'd imagined, but it was beautiful!!

The sisters & little Alex :)
{Kate, me, Carrie and Brooke}

Carrie & I pretty much have the same due date! She is pregnant with her 4th. She has three girls, and she's thinking of letting this one be a surprise!!

Cameron invented these all by himself. He asked Brooke for some empty milk jugs and filled them with rocks and made some sweet weights! I thought it was so creative!

The view of the Columbia River from Brook's backyard. Across the river is Oregon- technically Brooke lives is southern WA.

Brooke's pooches...

On the way home from the airport we stopped at Multnomah falls... the whole drive home we spotted random waterfalls all over, it was beautiful!

Then we were in Lincoln Falls, OR- right on the coast.

We did so many fun things.
  • We scared ourselves about tsunamis {not funny, but scary!}
  • we ate a wholeeee lot- including celebrating Brooke's birthday with "There's no such things as to much chocolate pie" - it was yummy!!
  • We did some outlet shopping {without sales tax-wahoo!}
  • we tried to buy some groceries for a homeless man and his dog, but then he ran away
  • We ate some delicious seafood- much to Brooke and Kate's dismay
  • Went seashell hunting- and Brooke found a giant starfish already dried sitting on the beach, I let her take it since it was already dried and dead :)
  • we watched fun movies in the sweet "media room" in the room above the garage
  • we went in the spa
  • And laughed and laughed and laughed!

We ordered in Chinese our last night... yummy!

Kate enjoying the complimentary bottle of wine- {not really}

These next pictures are snap shots of the beach house we stayed in. We LOVED it. It seriously looked like it was straight from a pottery barn magazine. The colors in each room were amazing.Even the sheets and pillow cases were top notch quality and brands. It was so fun, and so relaxing to stay there.

This cute room had two beds that looked just like this

The view from the balcony in the master bedroom. Most of these houses they rent out for vacation homes, but some are private homes.

Thanks mom and sisters for a fun weekend, can't wait till next year!

This video of Alex and Audrey makes me laugh. They are so funny together and say the funniest things, in the video I said I wasn't going to post it- but I couldn't help myself!!

Blodgett Girls Trip

We had such a fun girls weekend in St. George. The weather cooperated some-what and we were able to do lots of fun things!!
{Most revolving around food}...

I think this is why most of our activities had to do with food:
4 pregnant Ladies!!
Oh, and did I mention, we are all having BOYS!!! :)

We ate breakfast at Bear Paw Cafe- we waited about an hour to eat, but it was sooo worth it!
Kaley & Denae posing with their amazingly delicous hot chocolate

My meal: Pecan & oat coated french toast, 3 eggs, hash browns, and sausage-
I think I ate it all

We also got our nails done- which is always a major plus to any day

And of course it wouldn't be a trip to St. George without stopping to see the beautiful temple

I realize I didn't take many pictures, but we were just having to much fun!!
Some of our other highlights were:
  • Touring 3 museums and learning a lot of interesting facts
  • Eating at 25 main and brick oven.. yummy!
  • almost getting perks frozen hot chocolate :(
  • playing fun games
  • watching my favorite movie- "Two weeks notice"
  • Eating, eating, eating
  • Laughing- and laughing some more
  • Trying to have enough hot water for 8 women to shower
  • shopping- and buying some cute baby clothes at outlets
  • Spending time with family!!
Thanks Blodgett women for a fun weekend get-away, can't wait till next year! :)
