Supplize!!

Today Brett gave me a little Supplize.
Brett's suprises are the best because he always know exactly what I'm wishing for,
either because i've hinted at it enough times or because he's just so smart.
Usually it's because of the latter.
He handed me a peice of paper that told me we were going to go away for the weekend.
We are going to stay in the Seven Gables Inn
on the coastline in Monterey!
Isn't he so sweet?!
To make this trip even better, he told me he got tickets for the Monterey Bay Aquarium!
Not many people know this except family, but...
I am OBSSESSED with the ocean.
I took oceanography in high school from a fantastic teacher, and i fell in love with the subject.
Searching and inspecting tide-pools is one of my all time favorite things.
I am SO SO excited for the aquarium, I can hardly stand it.
This is the adorable Seven Gables Inn
Bed & Breakfast
We've heard they have an amazing breakfast
and from 7-9 pm, they have cookies & milk!!
This is my kind of place :)

This is what are room looks like.
They're all "beach-view" rooms, i think this one is particualarly cute!

I'm getting so excited just reading the sign!

Monterey Bay Aquarium, here I come!
I'm thankful I have such a romantic husband.
I already did an ode to Brett, so I won't get all mushy
(especially since my sisters gave me a few 'fingers in their mouths' gag face after they read it) :)
But, I really am thankful for him and his thoughfulness.
On a side note, check out Denae's new photgraphy website!
It's super cute and super cool!!
Spread the word, if anyone is looking for a photographer!

The Big Race

This past weekend I had the chance (thanks ang :) to run the Hobble Creek Half Marathon..
I never thought I would be one of "those" people, ya know the kind that find
running until your almost dead as fun..?

Well, i'm still not one of "those" people.
But i did enjoy this race, it was a really pretty course,
and it was more fun because I did it with lots of family!
My time was 1:58, that averages 9:01 a mile.
Brett and Dustin biked up the trail and took pictures for us
and rooted us on!
I may have stopped to give Brett a quick kiss :)

Denny was unbelievably fast.
I couldn't catch him the first 61/2 miles!!
And i finally did catch up, only because we stopped for some water!

They gave out free samples of this new 'KT' tape,
hence my 'robot knees'
It totally helped my knees
they didn't hurt at all!

During the race i felt great. The first six were down hill so I felt like i was flying.
The problem with a lot of downhill is that as soon as it flattens out, just a little...it feels like work!

I took 'gu' at mile 6, and 8. Then i had a teensy sip of another one at mile 10.
Swallowing that gu is like eating a large handful of hair gel...lemon flavored.

Gross and suffocating!! I pretty much just inhaled it with water before i could gag!
Mile 10 was where i hit my wall.
Those last three miles seemed like another 10...
I was so happy to finally see the finish line!!

This kind of stuff is Julie's thing.
She's an amazing runner and is so FAST!!

Denae and I were desperately trying to learn her secrets,
so before the race began and we were all stretching Denae and I
were copying Julie's EVERY move!

At one point Julie was smoothing her hands over her hair,
Denae thought maybe Julie was putting some secret oil in her hair to make her go faster.
Turns out she was just putting her hair up.....or was she? :)Denae did great. Even when, at mile 10
her knee almost exploded!

Dave was also incredibly fast...he left me in the dust!

Landon ran with a pretty much broken toe!
He finished and did great!

Kim and I are pretty much the same pace...so it was fun running with her.
She has bad Asthma, and she forgot her inhaler!
Not breathing and all, she finished! With a good time to!

Jill ran like it was no thing.
She's waving here, probably not even out of breath!
She left me in the dust too.

Words cannot express how happy we were when it was finally done!

Angie and Pete and their fam and Kays were all there cheering us on
it was a big motivation at the end!!

I think i would do a half marathon again...
I would definitely train better though...
and maybe not eat so much 'gu'!

Julie & Julia

My mom and I went on a date tonight and we saw this movie.

My review is an A+

I really love to cook.

So this movie was fun for me to watch her make the different sauces, and cakes and even cook some cool things like lobster, although it does seem a little cruel just to boil crustaceans likes that.

Meryl Streep is so funny, and I think she's an amazing actress.

It was so funny how she appeared so gigantic throughout the whole movie, because, apparently, she was!

If you've seen the movie you MUST watch this you tube video.

This is the real Julia Child. She's so funny and sparatic like she is in the movie.

http://http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVdI85jb8xg

I really like this poster.

I think it perfectly places my reason why i would never try and do what 'Julie' did in the movie. I could never try and take on Julia Child's recipes.

I just don't have what it takes!
I have made one to many things that have not turned out.
(Brett can attest to this...for example his birthday cake!)

Maybe some day soon i'll work up the courage do go through a cook book like this.

Another thought i had during the movie was how expensive it must have been for her to buy all these crazy things like a cow leg!!

The thing that made me most happy about this movie was how cute of a realtionship they portrayed Julia and her husband to have.
They were always so nice to eachother and Julia was ALWAYS so happy!
Maybe it would get annoying after a while, but her always happy demeanor was so fun to watch.

It was an inspiration for me, and i'm going to try and be plesant and happy
ALL THE TIME!

ok, maybe not all the time, that's not normal- and i'd get one someone's nerves.
But i do need to get better at complaing less and looking on the bright side more.

The End.

Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe was a blast
This picture can pretty much summarize what keeps us coming back each year...
The 'Dock'!!
This is Travis' favorite thing about Lake Tahoe
He is always the bravest, and he was the very first to jump off this year.
In this picture, he told Brett and Rod that he would jump off with them on the count of three...
looks like he got a good laugh though...

Golfing was a lot of fun, It was my very first time!
The picture in my mind of me golfing was always a 'Happy Gilmore' (subtract the cursing) type of scene. But, i actually was surprisingly patient with myself, and the darn ball, even when it didn't do what i wanted.

Mom found her old golfing glove, that has since become vintage! :)
Mom did really well, and is a good golfer. She saved us at one point by sinking her putt!
She danced around the hole for a little bit to celebrate.

Brett is a very good golfer.
He's fun to go with because he kept giving me advice and pointers.

Dad did well too.
We played our scramble against Kate and Clark and Troy and Travis.
At one hole, Clark was extremely honest. His ball was heading straight for the hole. Travis lifted up the flag so the ball could proceed and the whole cup came out of the ground! Clark's ball bounced off the cup and they didn't count it!

He learned however...when you play a game with the Crowley's we tend to take a few extra turns, or a couple extra tries... unnoticed. :)

This was definitely a highlight of the trip.
Lunch at Sunnyside Cafe.
The food is so yummy and it's such a pretty view.

Grandma was fun to have too; on the drive home we were talking about Travis' medications and Grandma turns around and starts telling us why she only cooks with olive oil!!

Bliss Beach

The Lambourne Fam
The Blodgett's :)

The whole Crowley Clan!

Brett is Alex's favorite thing to wrestle.
He was 'gangster Alex' on the beach...he was sagging a bit.

Little Abigail asleep on the beach

Brett burying a 'dead' Cameron

Carrie and her girls..so cute!

Blonde hair & Blue eyed mommy and Audrey

Enjoying Chili-Dogs!!

Ode to my Husband

Well, we've just about hit four months of marriage!
It really is bliss, and each day keeps getting better than the last.
I owe this happiness to Brett,
he makes me so happy for so many reasons.
In honor of his favorite number, (13) , I am going to share 13 reasons
why I love my husband.

Brett is...

#1. Romantic
Brett is very romantic. He brings me flowers quite often, and will leave me little notes, just to say he missed me.

#2. Funny
Anyone that knows Brett knows he is an extremely funny man. Whenever i do get a little cranky (which is so rare) he knows all he has to do is make me smile, which he can do so easily! He has one of the best senses of humor I've ever seen. And it is one of the major factors that made me fall in love with him.

#3. Adventurous
Brett is always looking for ways to experience new things. He's always willing to get dirty, or covered in bugs just for some entertainment. Last year at Tahoe, after it was announced there had been a bear in someone's camp site, Brett took of running...IN THE DIRECTION OF THE BEAR!! Just for a little adventure....

#4. Humble
He won't tell you he is, but he is. Brett is one of the most talented guys i know, but he'll never tell you about it.

#5. Hard-Working
Brett will get up in the wee hours of the morning and sacrifice a summer vacation for himself, and never complain about it.

#6. Smart
Brett is extremely smart. He is so quick to read any situation and understands how it can be solved. He gets things very fast, and can fix anything!

#7. Social
Everyone knows how amazingly social Brett is. But it goes beyond just being able to carry a conversation with anyone. Brett can honestly connect with anyone he's having a conversation with, and make them feel so special. I really love this quality about Brett and it truly is a gift. Sometimes I'm just not in the mood to talk..but Brett ALWAYS is! And i love it!

#8. Forgiving
I won't go into any detail, but Brett is very forgiving of me and my weaknesses. He is quick to forgive anyone, and Brett will never hold a grudge.

#9 Optimistic
He is always SO HAPPY! It is the best thing to live with. I always come home to a happy guy! It's so nice and i love it. One day Brett was in the library all day studying for a test. He ended up not doing so great, i went to pick him up and i was cranky because i was having a hard time with a project. Instead of complaining about his test, or wasted time in the library he immediately worked on cheering me up and making me smile. I love this quality.

#10. Good Cook
He is always willing to help me cook or cook for me. He is a great cook and often has good dinner ideas. (Probably thanks to Jill) But i really do appreciate this talent that he has. He never just sits on the couch watching t.v. while I cook dinner. He's always asking if there is anything he can do, and it makes me feel so appreciated.

#11. Great Athlete!
This is probably one of the first things i noticed about Brett back when he was 17, and I 14. He is incredibly fast. Seriously, lightning fast. And he is a great basketball player, and really a great anything player. We were on an ultimate frisbee team up at BYU-I in our married ward, and he was unanimously voted MVP. It amazes me when he goes on a run with me. I try and run a lot, and Brett will go with me periodically. When he does, he always can run faster and longer than me. Ok, that's not saying much comparing to me because i am slow. But he's always able to run!!...sometimes it annoys me because i feel like a shmuck. But, he can't help it!

#12 Strong Testimony
This is truly the first thing that i noticed about Brett and the first thing i was attracted to. Brett has such a strong testimony of the gospel, and it shows. He will share this testimony with anyone, anywhere and anytime. He is such an example to me and i look up to him in this regard so much.

#13 Last and certainly not least.....He's so gosh darn HANDSOME!!
I'm sure you all noticed his 'G.Q.' picture above. And any single ladies reading this are so jealous of me, i know. Brett is the most Handsome man i have ever seen. He is so good looking, and his personality makes him even hotter!

This is my ode to Brett. I hope you enjoyed it as much as i enjoyed making it...I love Brett and from all these qualities you can see how it'd be impossible not to!
