This past weekend I had the chance (thanks ang :) to run the Hobble Creek Half Marathon..
I never thought I would be one of "those" people, ya know the kind that find
running until your almost dead as fun..?
Well, i'm still not one of "those" people.
But i did enjoy this race, it was a really pretty course,
and it was more fun because I did it with lots of family!
My time was 1:58, that averages 9:01 a mile.

Brett and Dustin biked up the trail and took pictures for us
and rooted us on!
I may have stopped to give Brett a quick kiss :)

Denny was unbelievably fast.I couldn't catch him the first 61/2 miles!!
And i finally did catch up, only because we stopped for some water!
hence my 'robot knees'
It totally helped my knees
they didn't hurt at all!
During the race i felt great. The first six were down hill so I felt like i was flying.
The problem with a lot of downhill is that as soon as it flattens out, just a little...it feels like work!
I took 'gu' at mile 6, and 8. Then i had a teensy sip of another one at mile 10.
Swallowing that gu is like eating a large handful of hair gel...lemon flavored.
Gross and suffocating!! I pretty much just inhaled it with water before i could gag!
Mile 10 was where i hit my wall.
Those last three miles seemed like another 10...
I was so happy to finally see the finish line!!
She's an amazing runner and is so FAST!!
Denae and I were desperately trying to learn her secrets,
so before the race began and we were all stretching Denae and I
were copying Julie's EVERY move!
At one point Julie was smoothing her hands over her hair,
Denae thought maybe Julie was putting some secret oil in her hair to make her go faster.
Turns out she was just putting her hair up.....or was she? :)
her knee almost exploded!

Landon ran with a pretty much broken toe!
He finished and did great!
Kim and I are pretty much the same pace...so it was fun running with her.She has bad Asthma, and she forgot her inhaler!
Not breathing and all, she finished! With a good time to!
Jill ran like it was no thing. She's waving here, probably not even out of breath!
She left me in the dust too.
Words cannot express how happy we were when it was finally done!Angie and Pete and their fam and Kays were all there cheering us on
it was a big motivation at the end!!
I think i would do a half marathon again...
I would definitely train better though...
and maybe not eat so much 'gu'!

OH and next time I will run it too!
Hey Emily! I just wanted to tell you.. you did such an awesome job in the race! You were like speedy gonzales (I think that is his name :) ). It was fun hanging out with you guys last week. Fine, let's do it again soon. Love ya!
Good running Emily!!! It is so fun to read about your adventures! It looks like you and Brett are keeping busy and playing with your families plenty! We can't wait 'til the two of you come back. The bishopric is really going crazy . . . they asked me to give a talk! They don't know what they are getting themselves into! I better make it crazy so they never want to ask me again. :) Have some more fun . . . but not too much! Save some of your fun for us!
The big race was awesome. Next time we need to start spying on Julie a few weeks earlier- I know she has some tricks up her sleeve for us!! You did so awesome! I'm so proud of all of us!
Ems... you were awesome and I know that mile 13 was dedicated to me! I'm so glad you ran and maybe brett and I will next year! Go #225!
p.s. I sent brett some pics and told him to share with you!
Em, such an accomplishment! You should be proud. 13 and 1/2 miles sounds like forever to me - being the amazing runner I am!
You are all crazy. Every one of you!
Em - I was so impressed! You did awesome without even training that much. I'm so glad we all ran it - it will be a fun memory and hopefully tradition!
