Happy Fathers Day

I am so thankful for my dad- he is such a wonderful example and has made me the person I am today. Looking back at teenage arguments {I was usually right} :) - sometimes I can't believe how much my parents put up with from me. (ok, I wasn't a crazy bad teenager- just a normal, sometimes dramatic/sensitive teenage girl) :)
But now that I'm older and soooooo much wiser and more mature I realize how much like my dad I really am- and I thankful for the things I have learned & inherited from him.
Dad is a smart, funny, caring person. He always thinks the best of everyone and gives everyone the benefit of the doubt.
I have so many fun memories with dad. My 7th grade year he started coaching my city league softball team- and did every year after that.
He was so much fun and all my friends on my team and my close friends growing up loved him too.
Thank you dad for being so wonderful!

I love this picture of him and my mom. They will probably be embarrassed I put it up!

And Happy Fathers Day to the future daddy in my home!!
Brett is going to be such a wonderful father. Kids are drawn to him, no joke. Every single time we are at church and there is a baby in front of us, the baby is always drawn to Brett.
It happened today- the 9 month baby in front of us thought Brett was the funniest thing she'd ever seen. She could not draw herself away from him! Brett kept coming up with new tricks to keep her happy and entertained.
Brett is patient, fun, caring, and soo smart- I can't wait for him to teach our kids how to be wonderful people like him.

And of course Happy Fathers Day to my wonderful father in law- I know that Brett got all of his wonderful, loving attributes from his dad and I am so thankful for the things Denny has taught and continues to teach Brett.
Denny is such a fun person to be around, he is funny, caring and always puts other people before himself. I'm so lucky to be part of the family I married into- they are so full of energy and fun and I feel like I've been part of the family forever.

And... Congratulations to my sister Carrie & her hubby Rod!!
Baby Girl #4 was born yesterday- she is beautiful!!

what will he look like??

I've been trying to imagine what this little guy will look like as he grows...
I sure hope he takes after his adorable daddy!

I loooove this picture of little Brett.
Look at that suit, that smile, that hair! It's all so adorable!
And I'm sure our boy will be a little cheeser just like his daddy.

36 weeks & ready

I had my 36 week appointment today- yay! I can't believe how close it's getting...
Here are some stats:

  • I've gained 30 lbs total- it's been that way since my 33 week appointment, so hopefully I'm all done with the weight gain :)
  • Baby weighs close to 6 pounds- he probably has another pound to add...
  • Baby is about the size of a honey dew melon- & close to 18 or 19 inches long!
  • No stretch marks - hopefully it stays that way
  • I am dilated to a 1'' and 80% effaced- she felt the babies head, and said he's all ready to go! She also told me she doesn't think I'll make it to 40 weeks... But I can't have my baby before my sister Carrie, who is due a week before me- Carrie told me she'd be mad { in a jealous- I want my baby out first because I'm due first kind of a way} totally understandable.
  • My latest cravings are fruit & ice cream- not necessarily together. I go to the grocery store and pretty much buy the whole fruit section. Today I came home with; a pineapple, and cantaloupe, strawberries, bananas, apples, pears, raspberries and blackberries- I mean seriously, that's a little ridiculous, I'm not even sure we can eat that all before it goes bad. But it all looked so yummy- and wanted me to buy it. So I did. I decided I shouldn't buy ice cream today though, {since Brett & I go through a half gallon in 2 days}- so at least I'm showing some self control... although I don't think I can go the rest of the week without ice cream so I'm sure I'll find a way to get some...
Well, that's the latest update! It's just nice knowing that my body is making some progress on getting this baby out- and it's making the fact that we are going to be parents so much more real!!- yikes!!

baby practice & another project

Last night we got to have some baby practice!! Chad & Julie asked us to babysit baby Miles, and it was sooo fun. It made us even more excited for our little guy to come- and we realized we still have some things to learn about babies...

  • we knew that they slept a lot, but we really were able to witness it last night
  • changing their diapers is kinda hard- his little legs are bunched up so tight, so you have to stretch them out, but then he quickly forms back into a little ball again before you can do much cleaning!
  • Babies randomly hold their breath and choke for a bit on their own air- I guess you can't blame them, this little guy has only been breathing air for about 8 weeks! But it sure gives us a scare when his little face gets all red
  • Babies have little nightmares, not sure what about... maybe about losing a binki? But little Miles would be asleep and then quickly squirm and raise his hands above his head and whimper- it's pretty dang cute
  • Lastly, I learned that our baby (the one still in my tummy) is a jealous little guy! Every time I would hold Miles our little guy would kick/jab his little cousin from inside my tummy! Is it to early to teach our baby manners?! :)

I already knew this about Brett, but he truly is the baby whisperer. Babies love him. And he is such a natural with them, and knows what to do.
I know he's going to be the best dad.

Onto my latest project!!
I bought the fabric for this a while ago, but was a little hesitant to actually sew and complete it. Cuz I knew with this one, I couldn't mess up as much and not mind, like I did on some burp rags I made- I mean hey, they're just burp rags, so who cares if some stitching is off- right?
But a car seat cover goes in public- a lot! So I knew I'd have to be patient and take my time, which is something that I sometimes have issues with when it comes to projects.
So I did it over 2 days, to be sure I'd be extra patient. :)
I really like it- and although their are a few minor errors, if you look close- I gave it my best.

The underside of the blue is just a white fabric. I love the polka dots on our car seat, so I wanted to keep it simple.
