matchy matchy

a couple weeks ago, Denae & I decided we needed to have a photo shoot with our boys and their matching shirts. Along with Denae and I and our matching shirts.
a little silly, yes.
Mack just wanted to crawl everywhere and didn't want to hold still long enough for a picture, and Parker apparently just wanted to get a little nibble of Mack. Or maybe Parker is trying to hold Mack still long enough for a picture and the only way he could think of doing this is with his mouth?! haha

Our Valentines Day

V-day was low key this year, but it was my favorite out of the 2 1/1 years we've been married.
Sitting down to dinner with my 2 favorite boys was the best, and getting spoiled rotten by my honey was kinda fun too.

For dinner I made crock pot BBQ ribs, sauteed asparagus, Parmesan baked asparagus, fresh sliced cucumbers with italian dressing (brett's fave) - and little goblets filled with blueberries and blackberries. Nothing crazy fancy, but it was yummy!
And for dessert, Mississippi mud pie brownies & ice cream.

My two boys- awaiting their feast.
Parker's feast consisted of prunes and apples. No thank you!

we ate dinner on our china we got for our wedding.
We had never used it before, it was so fun getting it out, I forgot how much I liked the design!

I may have mentioned to the hubs that I wanted some new jammies for v-day.
He picked out these striped ones all on his own- I love them!
+ they have pockets- my favorite part

He brought me these beauties the day before v-day. He's good!

And then he brought me these on v-day.
They are so pretty!

He also brought be a pint of ben & jerrys, and a bag of peanut butter m&m's.
He knows the way to my heart.

I love my valentine, and I am so thankful he's such a sweet and caring gentleman!
And he's the best dad in the whole wide world.
Love you Brett!

an evening at the park

we decided it was high time Parker tried a swing. And, went down a slide, and climbed a few play structures. And evidently Brett had his own agenda of conquering the rock wall...

As you can see, our little man was in "swing" heaven.
Which is ironic considering he didn't care much for his really expensive swing we bough him when he was a newborn. But let's not dwell on that swing, that is collecting dust as we speak... :)

He thought the bridge was pretty cool too- he especially loved laying belly down on it and he probably even got a lick or two to see what it tasted like... no pics of that, I was probably telling Brett to hurry and pick him up so he would stop licking the surface that many a child had ran across in their dog poo, and who knows what else, covered shoes.

see? Brett wanted to conquer this rock wall- which he did I might add. Probably a lot quicker then those 7 year olds that it was made for.

Why Crawl??

Parker has figured out a new system.
He doesn't need to waste time with that crawling nonsense.

7 Months

follow me on instagram: emilyblodg

Little man turned 7 months this last week.
He sure is growing up fast!

Some of his favorite things at 7 months:
  • sophie his giraffe
  • his new toy fire truck that lights up and makes siren noises, and has little people that he loves to chew on and pull them off the truck and throw them right after I put them on the truck
  • his mom and dad
  • books
  • sweet potatoes & squash
  • bath time (he splashes like crazy- I am always soaked after his baths)

We love you little man!

1 month down, 1 1/2 to go

My NO-shopping spree has been tough.
The month of January was looooong.. long without buying just even one cute top for myself.
I'm proud of myself, and Brett's proud of me too- but that doesn't make me feel better about passing up some of the cute things I've seen at target, and local adorable consignment shops.
I tell Brett sometimes when I go see cute things in stores I get panic attacks- because I know they will be gone in March when I'm allowed to buy things again. I mean, I don't get panic attacks like falling on the ground breathing into a paper bag in the store or anything, but I definitely get stressed and a little envious/angry at all the women I see buying clothes around me. :)

There are some good things that have come of this resolution besides saving money.
I have bean cleaning out my closet a little bit, wearing things I haven't worn in a long time. I've also found new ways to wear some of my favorite items, wearing them with new things.

So it's been refreshing and fun- but I do reminisce some times of this really cute white and red striped GAP sweater and J.Crew Plaid shirt I passed up in an adorable consignment shop.

And I am counting down the days until March 19....
when I can be unleashed :)
