I did it!

Brett is out of town today with the car, so I was left to get to and from school today with the SCOOTER!

I know, I know, we have had the scooter for over a month and I'm still pretty much a wimp when it comes to riding it on my own. I just get really nervous and scared that;
1) it's going to crush me
2) a car is not going to see me and hit me
3) I will accidentally hit the gas instead of the break and crash into the back of a car at a stoplight or something

That third one is the one that actually plays in my head the most. It would just be so embarrassing to say, "Oh, sorry.. I meant to hit the brake.. did I do any damage?"

.. scared and nervous as ever, this morning I had no choice- I had to get to class.
I went out, kicked the kick stand up and rolled the scooter out of it's parking spot to face the right way. Whenever I try and 'move', 'push', or 'roll' the scooter somewhere it's quite a comical scene i'm sure... it's so stinkin heavy and it rolls sooooo slow because i'm so weak.
And while moving it i'm using all my strength trying to be sure it won't tip over, so i'm sweating moving this thing and it's barely budging... sad- I hope the neighbors don't watch me.

After successfully rolling the scooter out I was feeling pretty good. I hopped on, started her up and off I went. I remembered to wear sunglasses today, because for some reason whenever I ride the scooter my eyes immediately start watering uncontrollably and I can't see a darn thing.
This doesn't happen at all to Brett however.

Sunglasses and zippie on, I was ready.
I drove up the loooooong hill from our complex (which seriously seemed like it took 10 minutes alone to get to the top of that hill) and I came to my much dreaded nemesis:
the stoplight!

I had been worrying about this stoplight the whole night before.
I don't do good with turns and stops, so I was scared for the whole thing.
Luckily, there were no cars in front of me.. but the light was red.
I stopped.. struggled to decide what foot to put down, finally decided and the light turned green. I was off and turned wonderfully.

Except after that there was a green van behind me that was tail-gating me the whole way. I was ticked at them- I was going 30 mph.. and the speed limit is 25.. also, can't you just take it easy and lay off the scared girl on the scooter?!

After I got over that I noticed my hands were giant blocks of ice.. so i quickly turned and drove some more to find a suitable parking spot.. which is another scare all on it's own...

What if I knock the whole row of scooters or motorcycles over?? And a big scary man comes out and yells at me?? Well, I didn't knock any over, but I did park really close to another scooter..hopefully the owner is not a big scary man with a temper..

That's my story for today. Probably boring for you, but I was so proud of myself I had to document it. :)

Dear Double Scoop in a Waffle Cone

Dear Double Scoop Carmel Brownie and Gavin's Mess
(ice cream flavors):

We have been seeing a lot of each other lately. I have come in and ordered you a lot within these past few weeks, so much in fact that I am embarrassed to say how many times.

So I am writing you this letter to tell you that I think we should take a break. You have treated me so good, and you have made me so happy these past few weeks.
When I am with you, I feel like I could just eat you forever and ever and ever you would never let me down.
But then, guess what? You did let me down. I noticed that I was addicted to you, and I felt a little bit bigger after eating you so often.

I am sorry to do this, you will move on, I know you will.
You will meet another soon who will order you just as often as I was.
And they will eat you with just as much love as I ate you.

Maybe we will see each other around, hopefully not to often.
If you are with someone else, I will try not to be to sad.

Oh, and just so you know, it's not you, it's me.

Love,
always and forever
Emily

Dumb & Dumber

This post is in relation to my sister Brooke's comment on my last post. She mentioned dumb & dumber and their scooter, so I had to tell you.

When we very first bought the scooter I told Brett over and over that I could not get the dumb & dumber image out of my mind.

In fact, the first day we got out scooter, we rented Dumb & Dumber- just to get it out of my system!

It cracked me up. While we were riding it, I would be laughing hysterically just imagining us like Dumb & Dumber.

Sometimes, we even sing "Mocking Bird" while riding it.. just to make us laugh.
"Mock"
"Ya"
"Ing"
"Ya"
"Bird"
"Ya"
"Ya"
"Mocking Bird, hey everybody have you heard..."

Then, yesterday we took a little road trip.
In Idaho there is LOTS and LOTS of open space.
So, we took off on our little scooter and there we were, in the middle of NOWHERE on a little scooter.
(this is what it looked like as we rode)
This image was pressing in my mind the whole time

Now Brett just needs the bowl cut and goggles!!

p.s. fyi-I made a goal to post and update more on my blog.
Hopefully that will happen.

For your enjoyment...

We made some fun videos of us scootering...
You can laugh at us.. it's ok

One condition of us getting the scooter was that Brett and I would wear helmets all the time while riding it... that is why my helmet is ALWAYS on!

I was so excited to ride the scooter, i forgot to put my foot down- hence the scooter falling on me!

Our New Ride!!

Brett & I just bought this little diddy to help us get around this semester. We have conflicting class and work schedules so we thought this would be a good investment!

Plus I LOVE driving it.
And I really like the color, it's like an orange creamsicle...

Isn't it fun?!
I promise if you come and visit you can take a ride on it!

videos will be posted soon!
