Brett talking in his sleep
Brett has started doing some strange things in the middle of the night.
We've been married almost 2 1/2 years, and these weird things haven't started until this year.
Maybe it's because he has a full time job now, so he's tired and sleeps deeper or something- or maybe it was/is the anticipation and excitement of having the baby... whatever the reason I wanted to share some of these stories to document them, and to make you laugh.
So Brett talking in his sleep is pretty normal- he doesn't do it a lot, but even when we were first married he would occasionally.
I learned from his best friend and former college roomie that Brett talked a lot in his sleep when they were roomies, his buddy would even film it and try and get Brett to say weird things, which is not very hard to do I've learned.
I have tons of "Brett talking in his sleep" stories, but I'm only going to share a couple, just because I don't have time to share them all- but if you ever want to know more just ask. And if he keeps this up, maybe I'll keep posting more stories
First off, Brett always falls asleep before me. When I was pregnant he would fall asleep waaay before me, sometimes an hour or more. Even now, not pregnant it still takes me a lot longer to fall asleep- so I'm usually wide awake and aware when he starts talking, so he can't discount any of this by saying I was sleeping too~!
(by the way I have brett's full permission to share these stories)
To the stories:
A few weeks ago I had gotten up to use the bathroom- (i was still pregnant and going potty a lot) :) As I was getting back in bed, Brett turned to me and said,
"Stop" -
"stop what?" I asked him
" You're trying to cover me with sticks" is what he said
"No i'm not Brett"- he got a confused look, and went back to bed- it was weird
Sometimes he does scary ones, one time he sat up in bed super fast and stared at the corner of our room where the bathroom is
"what are you doing?" I asked
"there's someone over there" he said
"No there's not brett"
"Ya there is"
"What are they doing?" I asked
"Waiting to put my stuff up." - and then he went right back to bed. Leaving me wide awake to be scared and keep looking at that corner waiting to see someone!!
Another scary one was one of the first nights we had Parker home, he was in his bassinet next to our bed, Brett woke up and asked,
"Where is he?"
"Who?" I asked
"He was looking at Parker" was all he said
That one really freaked me out, so I had to wake Brett up fully and make him realize there was no one there so that he could reassure me!!
These last ones are more recent, like last night and the night before that...
I had finished feeding Parker and had put him back down, it had been about 15 minutes- Brett was asleep the whole time when out of no where he jumps out of bed and starts padding the comforter at the bottom of our bed. He's moving it and pushing it around like he's feeling for something.
"Brett, what are you doing?"
"Looking for Parker"
"Why would parker be down there?" I asked
"Someone put him there"
"Why would I put him at the bottom of the bed?" I said
"No, not you, someone else"
"Brett, what are you talking about?"
"Never mind" was what he said and went back to bed
He didn't remember this happening this morning when I asked him about it... weird!!
Ever since we had Parker we are both a little on edge to hear him cry in the night and jump up and get him, just as most new parents are, I'm sure.
This one happened again about 20 min after I fed and put Parker back down. Brett jumped up, grabbed this mesh, small football pillow he has and put it on the side of the bed and started trying to swaddle it with our comforter.
"What are you doing??" I asked him
I think that woke him up and he realized he wasn't swaddling a baby... he got back in bed and went right to sleep...
I have countless other stories, usually about him waking up and saying weird things, or jumping out of bed and doing weird things. Maybe I will start filming them- and post them! :)

Reunited
Brett had to go to NY for 10 days for work.
He left when Parker was only a week and a half old, and came home when he was almost 3 weeks! He looked huge to Brett.
It was hard for Brett to be away from us for that long- especially his new baby!
When Brett got home he laid on the floor next to Parker and they just stared at each other,
Parker is happy to have daddy home too!

Also, side note: What could be cuter then a baby in only a onesie???
A V-Neck Onesie!!
thank you babyGap!
Since dad had been gone, mom hadn't been swaddling the little guy- I'm not as good as a swaddler as Brett, and every time I tried he would kick and punch and grunt until he got his little arms out- so I just stopped swaddling him.
But dad's back!
Back to being swaddled again!

My little chunker
Parker had his 2 week check-up this week.
technically at the appt he was 2 weeks & 4 days old-
but we learned that he is indeed getting enough to eat!
when he was born he was 7 lbs 8 oz
4 days later we took him in and he was 7 lbs 10 oz, which the doc was thrilled about, since babies are still loosing weight at that point...
So at a 2 week check up they hope the baby is back to his birth weight,
at his 2 week check up he weight 9 lbs 2 oz!!
He gained 1 pound and 10 oz in 2 weeks!
That's my boy!! :)

The first 2 weeks of his life
These first 2 weeks of Parker's life have been full of learning (on his and his parents part)- we have learned a lot about our little boy and we think he is the best thing that has ever happened to us. Every day we love him more.
So far Parker loves:
-Bath Time
-His changing pad- he can be crying and crying, the minute you set him on his changing pad and strip him down- he's quiet and happy as a clam
- His daddy, no one can settle Parker down the way his dad can
-He's learning to love a binki... it's work in progress
-And he loves all the family/friends that have come and are coming to meet him!
The rest of this post is pictures in no specific order... some are older, from the hospital and some are more recent. Enjoy!

I love this picture... just so you know we don't sleep with our baby in our bed! This was in the morning while I was getting ready... Brett just set him by him for a minute and they were both asleep!

Uncle Devin, and cousin Wyatt came too!
(Kim couldn't come because she had just had Parker's cousin, Cooper a week before!)
Parker loves his Grandma and Grandpa C - he has Grandpa C's yawn.. it's HUGE! And he loves Grandma C calming him down and taking him out for fresh air!
Brooke's kids admiring Parker. They were REALLY into him. At one point Grandma tried to interrupt them to see if they wanted ice cream and no one responded- they were hypnotized by baby Parker- so cute!Travis asked to hold Parker- it was so cute.

Parker Vance Blodgett's Birth Story

(photos by Ddawg)I woke up Saturday, July 2nd at 3:30 am excited. I felt a few contractions and I was so happy- I didn't know if it meant he would be here soon, but I was just happy to feel my body working to have a baby. They were not painful at all- and had no rhyme or reason to their timing- at least from what I could tell- and I fell back asleep...
Brett got up at 6:45 am to go golfing, I told him I was having mild, irregular contractions but that he should still go golfing- it took some persuading from me, but he went.
While he was gone I went on a walk, showered, got ready all without noticing any contractions- so I started thinking they weren't going to come anymore- and that was it for the day.
Brett got home from golf around 10:30 am- neither of us wanted to dwell to much on the possibility of having the baby that day, we didn't want to get our hopes up. So we decided to go to the mall, have lunch and walk around- turns out we ended up meeting one of Brett's best friends at the mall, and we chatted with him for a couple hours- helping the time fly.
After we said goodbye to his friend and we were heading home, it was 5 pm and my contractions were definitely becoming consistent and stronger.
For those of you who didn't know, I was planning on going through my birth using hypno-birthing. Which is when you use methods you have practiced over the course of your pregnancy to bring yourself into a deep state of relaxation- and enjoy a calm, peaceful atmosphere of dim lights and soft music as you bring your baby into the world medication free.
We started keeping track of my contractions, meaning writing them down, around 6:30 pm. By then they were about 9 min apart and I could talk through them-
They gradually got closer together and by 8 pm they were about 5-6 min apart.
Since 6:30 pm I had been listening to my relaxation music and trying to be sure I was relaxed- and calm, making it easier for my body to do it's job.
We did this for 2 more hours- timing contractions, relaxing and talking between contractions.
I was happy- Brett was happy, and we were beginning to realize that our baby was coming closer!
By 10 pm I couldn't talk through contractions anymore- they were very strong and intense. At 10:30 I told Brett it was time to go- we got in the car (in between contractions, because I couldn't move during a contraction) and headed to the hospital.
We arrived at the hospital- luckily I was pre-registered- so we walked to the front desk, she asked me a question (can't remember what it was)- I just know I didn't answer as a contraction came I leaned over and put my head on the desk while Brett took over the questions.
They brought us to a room- I changed- they strapped heart beat monitors on my belly to hear baby's heart beat and watch contractions. The nurse checked my cervix and got a really confused look on her face.
"hmmm, I can't seem to find your cervix" - "Let me go get another nurse"-
The other nurse came in, got the same expression on her face and said,
"umm, I think she's at a 9"
With this information I was relieved. We had wanted to labor at home as long as possible, but it being my first pregnancy I had no idea what to expect from my body- I was happy to hear my body had done it's job.
From that moment on things turned into a mad rush around us.
Nurses were running around, bringing in tables, gear, and other nurses.
One nurse asked if I was planning on going un-medicated, when I told her I was she said it was a good thing- not sure I would have had time for medication.
They called my doctor at home, since she wasn't on call that night. My doctor was 37 1/2 weeks pregnant herself, but got up from bed and came straight to the hospital because she wanted to deliver my baby. I love my doctor!
Since we got there with such little time to prep, the nurse had to ask me all sorts of questions between contractions- allergies, medications, medical history- I answered in the beginning, but about after 15 min- Brett took over the answering.
It took me about another hour to dilate to a 10- and then my doctor came in and asked if I wanted to push or let him come.
I wanted to push. By this time the most intense pain I was feeling was my lower back. It was the worst pain I felt my whole labor and delivery. I couldn't change positions- I tried standing, sitting, anything to help ease my back pain but it wasn't helping. I found the best position was on my side while Brett pushed on my lower back for counter-pressure.
Brett was amazing during this whole process- he had my music going, lights dimmed, and was doing anything/everything I asked him, fanned me, stopped fanning me, pushed on my knees- anything. He kept encouraging me and stayed right by my side the whole time- I loved it.
After I told the doctor I wanted to push- we began that process and it was an hour of pushing until we saw our baby boy.
There is nothing to compare to the feeling of seeing your baby for the first time.
It really is such a miracle- and I was over-whelmed with love for him.
Parker was blue- the cord was loosely around his neck- he was placed on me for about 3 seconds before the doctor said, that's good enough, and told the nurse to get him to the respiratory therapist ASAP. She was worried, which made us worried.
The nurse literally picked Parker up by his ankles, whirled around and dropped him on the respiratory nurses table. They began sucking stuff out of his lungs, nose, mouth and I still barely heard a peep. Brett went over to the table, watching the nurse and began talking to Parker- Parker turned around at the sound of Brett's voice and began crying. It was a happy sound!
Then our lives changed forever, and were so happy and emotional to meet our new son and make our family, a family of 3!!
Choosing to go un-medicated was a choice I had made before I went into labor- during labor and pushing I can't lie and say I never thought, "wow, this would be great without pain"- but after it was all said and done, I am so thankful I delivered this way-
It was amazing to feel my body do all the work and function the way it was supposed to.
We love you Parker, and are so overwhelmingly happy you are here!
(My awesome labor looks gown was a baby shower gift-I decided to wear it after I had the baby- I loved it, and so did all the nurses!
Thanks Wagners! :)

I love his eyes- they are open a lot.
this is after Brett & I were changing him and Parker decided to poop EVERYWHERE- no joke.
Hence, the wipe in the corner of the pic covering up the poop- and the messy, frantic looking changing table, we were just trying to not get everything pooped soaked!
We were laughing pretty hard during this whole ordeal- we love being parents! :)

1 more project to keep me entertained till baby comes!!
Every day I think it may be the day this baby decides to make his presence known- so far though, he's perfectly content where he is!
since this is the case I desperately have been needing some things to keep me busy-
so I decided I wanted a 'fun' pillow for the living room. So I recovered a different decor pillow that wasn't out because the colors didn't go- and I love it!
Best part of it? it was sooo cheap-
The neutral fabric I bought at savers- $2 total
the flowers and ribbon I had... I love decor that is practically free!
