I finally caught one on camera

I finally caught a smile!.. or at least the tail-end of one
Parker is starting to smile more and more and we love it.
on our recent trip home to cali we learned he smiles super easy for grandparents (both sides) and he also smiles great for his Aunt Denae- so why the heck does he hold out on his mom and dad??
Brett and I were determined not to have any more of this "with-holding smiles from mom and dad" business so we made it our goal this weekend to get him to start smiling a lot- I think it's working!!

(we are also teaching Parker gang signs..looks how good he's getting!) :)
Denae & I and our babies
I love how Mack is looking perfectly at the camera with a little smirk

Cute cousins!

This is Parker's sweet little golfing outfit- I love the sweater vest, it's to die for!!

Blessing in Cali

This past weekend we went home to bless little Parker.
It was so much fun, and I'm so glad we decided to bless him at home, it was a nice vaca and so fun for everyone in my home ward to meet our new little man.

Lots of the fam is here in Utah, so we were bummed they wouldn't be able to come but we're glad that the family we have in cali made special time for us! :)

I realized I didn't get a close up shot of his blessing outfit- it was adorable it was little white suspenders and had a little white bow tie!! Plus it was made of all silk- so he was extra soft!

All the fam that came!
We love you little Parker and we are so thankful you are in our lives!

And thanks again ddawg for always saving the day and being the family photographer :)

we love the doctor

This is my doctor- she delivered Parker. She is awesome and Parker and I love her!
She had her baby 3 days after Parker was born- guess what she named her baby??
Parker!!
It's fun to talk about our Parkers... she said my Parker could eat her Parker...
Guess he's still a chunk!
Please notice his double chin... and the rolls that are visible in his thighs-
we love them

my 6 weeks old munchkin

Parker is already 6 weeks old, I can't believe it!
Time has flown by, he is so much bigger and chunkier now- I love the chunk!
We are learning a little bit more about Parker now that he is a little older- he is a sweet baby and loves being with mom and dad. He just wants to hang out and be where the action is.
He is just starting to smile, and it is the cutest thing- hopefully this week the smiling will become more often!

this weekend we tried a new pizza place with kate and clark- settebello- it was dang good, I'm already thinking of an excuse to go back

After pizza we walked around temple sqaure- I should have gotten some pics of the flowers, they are beautiful this time of year. Parker liked just layin on the grass hanging out

Brett & I also took a little trip to Park City this weekend to go to the outlets
-Brett's idea by the way, I was shocked!! I never thought his idea of a good time would be shopping, But i wasn't complaining. We managed to find some good steals :)

Cousin Love

We got a few of the cousins together this week for a little cousin love-
we are missing one Blodgett baby cousin (Mack)

Cooper (5 weeks), Miles (3 1/2 months), Parker (4 weeks)

The mom's and their babies!

I don't have much time to blog anymore, I'm lucky if I get lunch in during the day.

At 4 weeks old Parker is a sweet, cuddly, lovey little guy- and a happy baby.
He still loves his changing pad, bath time and hanging out where all the commotion is- he loves sound and noises and falls asleep the easiest when their is noise around.

I'm learning more and more each day how to decode my little babies personality.
He is generally happy unless he's hungry- or tired or bored

He is a great sleeper at night, he usually eats around 10 or 11 pm then wakes up around
2 or 3 am then again around 6 or 7 am.
After I feed him and cuddle him a little he goes right back to sleep-

the struggle we are working with is that he thinks since he sleeps so good at night that there is no need for him to nap during the day- he fights sleep during the day. And he just wants to be held.
Which I love to do except when I want to get laundry, dishes, blogging, or anything else that involves 2 hands done.

To help with this we went out and spent a good deal of $$ on a swing, which he liked at first, now he's in for 3 minutes then he gets angry that we thought we could trick him into thinking someone was swinging him when in fact it's just a dumb lump of plastic.
We have hope that in a month or so he will like his swing. If not, Parker will owe us some $$. :)

My biggest complaint (and something no one can control) is that Parker gets the hiccups ALL the time!! When he's not trying to sleep I don't mind- but he will get them while he's sleeping and they will wake him up! I don't think they bother him, but they sure bug me!

Being a mom is a fantastic adventure- every day I love it more and more!!

Brett talking in his sleep

Brett has started doing some strange things in the middle of the night.
We've been married almost 2 1/2 years, and these weird things haven't started until this year.
Maybe it's because he has a full time job now, so he's tired and sleeps deeper or something- or maybe it was/is the anticipation and excitement of having the baby... whatever the reason I wanted to share some of these stories to document them, and to make you laugh.

So Brett talking in his sleep is pretty normal- he doesn't do it a lot, but even when we were first married he would occasionally.
I learned from his best friend and former college roomie that Brett talked a lot in his sleep when they were roomies, his buddy would even film it and try and get Brett to say weird things, which is not very hard to do I've learned.

I have tons of "Brett talking in his sleep" stories, but I'm only going to share a couple, just because I don't have time to share them all- but if you ever want to know more just ask. And if he keeps this up, maybe I'll keep posting more stories

First off, Brett always falls asleep before me. When I was pregnant he would fall asleep waaay before me, sometimes an hour or more. Even now, not pregnant it still takes me a lot longer to fall asleep- so I'm usually wide awake and aware when he starts talking, so he can't discount any of this by saying I was sleeping too~!
(by the way I have brett's full permission to share these stories)

To the stories:

A few weeks ago I had gotten up to use the bathroom- (i was still pregnant and going potty a lot) :) As I was getting back in bed, Brett turned to me and said,
"Stop" -
"stop what?" I asked him
" You're trying to cover me with sticks" is what he said
"No i'm not Brett"- he got a confused look, and went back to bed- it was weird

Sometimes he does scary ones, one time he sat up in bed super fast and stared at the corner of our room where the bathroom is
"what are you doing?" I asked
"there's someone over there" he said
"No there's not brett"
"Ya there is"
"What are they doing?" I asked
"Waiting to put my stuff up." - and then he went right back to bed. Leaving me wide awake to be scared and keep looking at that corner waiting to see someone!!

Another scary one was one of the first nights we had Parker home, he was in his bassinet next to our bed, Brett woke up and asked,
"Where is he?"
"Who?" I asked
"He was looking at Parker" was all he said
That one really freaked me out, so I had to wake Brett up fully and make him realize there was no one there so that he could reassure me!!

These last ones are more recent, like last night and the night before that...

I had finished feeding Parker and had put him back down, it had been about 15 minutes- Brett was asleep the whole time when out of no where he jumps out of bed and starts padding the comforter at the bottom of our bed. He's moving it and pushing it around like he's feeling for something.
"Brett, what are you doing?"
"Looking for Parker"
"Why would parker be down there?" I asked
"Someone put him there"
"Why would I put him at the bottom of the bed?" I said
"No, not you, someone else"
"Brett, what are you talking about?"
"Never mind" was what he said and went back to bed

He didn't remember this happening this morning when I asked him about it... weird!!

Ever since we had Parker we are both a little on edge to hear him cry in the night and jump up and get him, just as most new parents are, I'm sure.

This one happened again about 20 min after I fed and put Parker back down. Brett jumped up, grabbed this mesh, small football pillow he has and put it on the side of the bed and started trying to swaddle it with our comforter.
"What are you doing??" I asked him
I think that woke him up and he realized he wasn't swaddling a baby... he got back in bed and went right to sleep...

I have countless other stories, usually about him waking up and saying weird things, or jumping out of bed and doing weird things. Maybe I will start filming them- and post them! :)
