who would have thought?!

A couple months ago I was at the grocery store,
checking things off my list as I went.
Toilet paper was on my list... so I went to the aisle, and found the best deal. When I say the best deal I mean, no- I did not purchase the 20 ply, made with silk, and real silk worms and velvet toilet paper. ( I made this up if you couldn't tell, I don't think they put silk in any toilet paper, but you get the point) Instead, I bought the toilet paper that was about a step above the walmart brand. Ya know, not the best but not the worst. Toilet paper is not something that I have ever felt I needed to spend a lot of money on. Well, that is before I got married.

I came home from the store with this toilet paper, I set the bags down and went in the back room for a minute. While I am back there Brett begins taking the groceries out of the bag..
Then I hear him- " Oh, no!" he cries, " This is awful!"

I am still in the back room, and hearing him moan and gasp- I'm thinking he has witnessed a horrific car accident outside our window, or maybe he accidentally grabbed my woman's materials out of the bag. So I come out promptly to see what the problem is-

I come out to see him standing there holding the toilet paper I bought. "We can't use this!" he exclaims desperately. I then go on to tell him, that if he really can't handle that toilet paper then he could return it. ( I say this thinking of course he will not go through all the hassle to return it, he'll just use this toilet paper and see that it's not that bad) But I was wrong!!
Brett took the toilet paper back to walmart!! And bought the toilet paper that he wanted.

Come to find out- I guess from serving his mission in some under-developed areas, and having some bad toilet paper experiences, he is appreciative of quality toilet paper...

So this morning when I got home from the store, he double checked the toilet paper I bought.

My husband is NOT a picky eater, nor is he picky in any other way.

But picky in toilet paper?? Who would have thought??
They say a lot of times the things the parents are picky about, the children will be picky about.
Am I going to have a bunch of toilet paper picky children??

I nearly cried while laughing as I read this post. Boys are so funny sometimes. The other day I found Jonathan scrubbing our floor with a magic eraser and that was kinda weird....I really didn't know he cared so much about the scuff marks :) hehe.
ps- we buy our t.p. in bulk from Costco, and not only does it save money but the Kirkland brand is super soft (and it's 40 rolls!!!!).You may want to try that if you have the chance one day.

Haha. This is hilarious! We had a similar experience where I had come home with the goods and Mark says, "Rach, I dont know if I ever told you this, but I prefer 3 ply..."

He Emily. I have been following your blog for awhile now and just love your posts! I just had to comment on this one because my husband is the exact same way!!!! He is not picky about anything, but toilet paper! Which I found out by buying a cheaper brand and he was very upset because he has to have Angel Soft....oh and he knows the difference of anything else too! Gotta love them!
