A terrific 21st Birthday

Before I get into the deets about my birthday I need to tell about our quick trip to Utah... We went down so that I could help my wonderful sis, Kate find a wedding dress. It was the quickest Utah trip of my life, but it was a nice break and we found her dress!

Sorry we weren't able to see everyone we would have liked to in utah- I tried to convince Brett to let us skip a few days of school but he wouldn't do it!
We played the game, 'Ticket to Ride' a lot. It's a really fun game, but I must admit that when certain people (Clark) block my train that I slaved so patiently to build it's a tad frustrating! :)

I loooooove Kate's ring.
Of course I love my ring, but my next choice would definitely be a flat ring like this.
They are just really classy- and beautiful!

We enjoyed Baskin Robbins from some old gift certificates we found in our drawer
I love finding things like gift certificates in places where you forgot you put them!! They are so fun to use up! Maybe I should intentionally hide a $20 bill somewhere and then find it in a few months.... no that would defeat the purpose...

We ate dinner at the Blue Iguana that night in SLC. It's super duper yummy Mexican Food. But of course I didn't get any pictures while we were there.
I think I was to focused and concentrated on the food to think about anything else like taking pictures

Who would have thought that in downtown SLC they have these awesome 'metal pretend-biker men' strewn about the sidewalks. Just what every city needs!
I thought they were to tie your horse to. I was quickly corrected.
(and laughed at)

Onto the 21st Birthday...
My day started with Brett bringing me French toast in bed at 6:30 am. (no pictures because I'm pretty sure I was still half-asleep... so the thought of a camera did not cross my sleepy mind)
Then off to class I went.
They sang to me (against my will) in both my classes. That is the nice thing about going to school here, people actually know your name and the professors care enough to sing to you. :)

Brett then surprised me with this:

A pedicure!
He knew just want I wanted! It felt soo good, and my feet and toes desperately needed it since they have been crammed into shoes all dang winter long. (I don't think in my whole 21 yrs of existence my California feet have taken that long of a break from sandals!)
Don't feel awkward for the lady painting my nails- I asked her if I could take a picture...

(on the couch left to right: Mallory & Lane, Arron & Nicole-please don't ask me why brett thought it would be hilarious to pretend he was a butler and hold the towel that way- I don't have a clue why)

That night some friends came over and we had cake and ice cream and watched 'Paycheck'- a cheesy movie with Ben Affleck and Uma Thurman. (Ben is just not the action movie actor- it was comical watching him fight- and Uma- what's with the raggedy Anne doll hair?)

Side note: Did you think for a minute that Aaron (guy in blue on couch) was Brett?? They are the same height and are built the same and look uncanny when your looking at the back of them- Sometimes when Aaron and Brett play basketball together Nicole (Aaron's wife) & I have a hard time telling them apart if they are far away...

It was fun. We also played scategories and everyone let me win since it was birthday! They let me count Tiger as a farm animal... which now I will admit it is not a farm animal... but I still won :)

Brett wanted to make me a cake without me doing anything.
So I didn't do anything- just watched and took pictures!

They looked good in the oven- But then were a little to soft when they came out- he just decided to work with it though.
They crumbled a bit- but luckily Brett called his mom who saved the day with her awesomely yummy and perfect chocolate frosting!

So- although the cake looks like he had some trouble with it, Brett informed me that he meant for it to look this way- It's a 'mud-slide' cake....
It was super yummy!


Mallory (pictured above on couch) knows how much I love the Cocoa Bean cafe here.
She brought me a Snickers cupcake for my birthday- it was so thoughtful and I ate the whole thing all by myself... and it was dang good!
Do you also like my new 'mini-cupcake platter?'
I got it from D.I. today...for .75 cents.
Oh- how I love D.I.
It's green, and so cute...
Since I have this cute platter, I will need to have a cupcake every day to put on it... right?

Overall, it was a great birthday. Turing 21, I don't feel much different.

I was thinking that to celebrate I should go by a six-pack of Budweiser and then return it right after buying it. I was thinking it would be fun to show the cashier my i.d. and be 21.

But after some thought and talking with my smart hubby, I realized it would be to much hassle to explain to someone I knew if they saw me buying it. For instance, if our stake president just happened to see me buying it- it may not go over well explaining to him I just wanted to show the cashier my i.d. since I'm 21 now.
